triptych “Wisconsin reunion”, oil on board, each about 13×9″
This trio of paintings is from a photograph. That’s my mom, and her two brothers at a family reunion in Montfort, Wisconsin, probably in the 1980’s. We were not around either of my parent’s families very much, so her brothers are a bit of a mystery to me. I wonder how they felt about each other. This triptych was just accepted into a juried show at a gallery with monthly shows.
I painted this last year, using mainly violet and yellow ochre, with a little turquoise thrown in. Then had it framed. And then it sat on the piano in my home. When we walked by the piano, sometimes my mother’s frame would rattle. Hmmm – what did she want to say?
One morning, I was sitting at the table and looked over at these three. Then I googled the nearby gallery that has monthly shows, wondering what the theme was this time.
The theme? Third Time’s The Charm: open to any image involving three-ness. Intuition?

intuition? yes. Plus, I appreciate learning the stories behind your art.
